Jeff, as described in the May 10, 2005 memo you received, the IDT is in the initial stages of developing proposed action(s) within the Belt Creek WUI. Tonight's meeting in Neihart is a continuation of the collaboration process we started last year to gather thoughts and ideas from the local community and interested parties on what vegetation treatments we might pursue to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire. At tonight's meeting, we will present a map of potential treatment areas identified to date, along with some very preliminary ideas on what treatment options we might pursue. A lot of ground-truthing still needs to occur before proposed actions can be fully developed. I will send you copies of what is presented at the meeting tonight (meeting agenda, maps, ect......), as well as a brief synopsis of meeting discussions if you like. Thanks for your interest in this project. ************************************* Gary Hanvey Zone Wildlife Biologist Lewis & Clark National Forest Phone - 406 547 6012 EMail - ghanvey@fs.fed.us ************************************* Jeff Juel To ghanvey@fs.fed.us 05/17/2005 10:49 cc AM jeffjuel@wildrockies.org Subject Monarch/Neihart Fuels Reduction Gary, I received a May 10, 2005 scoping notice regarding a Monarch/Neihart Fuels Reduction proposal, but there was no map or other details.
